Don’t worry! Most application processes can take a long time, sometimes several months. We recommend not reaching out to an employer if you haven’t heard back from them, particularly if it’s only been a couple of weeks. If the application is being run through Hire STEM Women, we can check for updates so do reach out to us on whatsapp on 07561 382701 or email us at hq@hirestemwomen.co.uk and we can help. If the applications are being run by another company, I’m afraid we aren’t able to check whether you’ve been successful or not.

Step 1

Research the company and the role you're applying for. This will help you to understand the company culture and values, as well as key  skills required for the role. 

Step 2

Practice responses to common interview questions, check out our blogs for further tips on how to respond to common interview questions! Here at Hire STEM Women we allow you to practice interviews with us to help you feel confident in your role with our partner firms, simply get in touch! You can also practice with friends & family this will help you to feel more confident and prepared during interviews.

Step 3

Dress appropriately for the interview. Do some research on the company culture & environment this will help you to make a good first impression and show that you take the interview seriously, we recommend if you are unsure it is best to keep it professional.

Step 4

Arriving late can leave a poor impression & make the interview question your reliability, so make sure you are on time for the interview, if you are unsure of the location it is best to plan your journey in advance and take a trip early to familiarise yourself with the location, if you are doing virtual interviews make sure you have good connection and log in 15 mins before hand to avoid any technical problems. If in the instance you are experiencing technical glitches let the interviewer know so that they are well prepared and have a back up in which you can use an alternative way to do the interview such as via your phone or download the communication software on your phone.

Step 5

Be yourself and be honest. Don't try to be someone you're not or give answers that you think the interviewer wants to hear. Instead, be honest and authentic, and focus on highlighting your strengths and experience.
